Blue Ridge Community College issued the following announcement on Sept. 1

Whether you’re a job seeker looking for a dream career or an employer searching for the perfect addition to your staff, the upcoming Small Business is Big Business Job Fair has options for both and is the ideal venue for employment in Western North Carolina.

Both job seeker and employer events take place on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 2 – 7 p.m. in the Conference Hall at the Henderson County Campus of Blue Ridge Community College.

Businesses everywhere are struggling to find employees to match market demand. Created specifically with smaller employers in mind, the employer-focused side of this recruitment event aims to support those small businesses located in the retail, restaurant, small manufacturing and service industries. Nonprofits are also welcome.

“We’ve all seen the impact the pandemic has had on small businesses, specifically as it relates to their struggle recruiting and retaining qualified employees,” stated Blue Ridge Community College Small Business Center director Ben Smith. “Sometimes that looks like small businesses shutting their doors early or for entire days due to the limited labor pool. That’s what we aim to address with this job fair.”

For anyone seeking employment, now is the time to find that dream job or part-time flexible position, Smith said. Businesses everywhere are looking to hire fresh talent and many have increased wages or employee benefits to match market demand. The Small Business is Big Business Job Fair offers job seekers a chance to connect with employers and to discover the new opportunities waiting for them in a comfortable setting.

In addition to the multitude of businesses attending, job and networking opportunities, the Small Business is Big Business Job Fair is absolutely free to attend.

Partners for the event include: NCWorks, the Blue Ridge Community College Small Business Center, the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development, the Fletcher Area Business Association (FABA), Historic Downtown Hendersonville, and the United Way of Henderson County.

The total cost of this job fair is $5,000 with 0% financed from non-governmental sources.
