Enrollment in New Kent County Public Schools District increased over previous year

The only school district in New Kent County had rising enrollment in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

There were 3,536 students in New Kent County Public Schools District, 2.9% more than the year before.

Enrollment in New Kent County bucked the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 52.1% of them were male, and 47.9% were female.

Data also showed that most of the studets were white, representing 73.1% of New Kent County Public Schools District's total enrollment.

New Kent County Public Schools District has a main office in New Kent and is the only school district within New Kent County.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
