Lower student enrollment in Charles City County Public Schools District, following state's trend

The only school district in Charles City County suffered declining enrollment in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

There were 530 students in Charles City County Public Schools District, 5.7% less than the year before.

Enrollment in Charles City County was steady with the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.1% of them were male, and 48.9% were female.

The most represented ethnicity among Charles City County Public Schools District students was Black, accounting for 48.5% of the student population.

Charles City County Public Schools District has a main office in Charles City and is the only school district within Charles City County.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
