2023-24 School Year: How many students were enrolled in Middlesex County schools?

There were 1,226 students enrolled in Middlesex County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 1.4% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Middlesex County comprised 51% boys, with girls representing the remaining 49%.

Data also showed that white students made up 67.5% of the student body, the largest percentage in Middlesex County schools, followed by Black or African American students with 17.2%, 6.5% Hispanic students and 0.3% American Indian or Alaskan Native students.

Middlesex Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Middlesex County's three schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 600 students.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
