Gloucester County Education: 5,016 students were enrolled in 2023-24 school year

There were 5,016 students enrolled in Gloucester County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 1.5% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Gloucester County comprised 51.7% boys, with girls representing the remaining 48.3%.

Data also showed that white students made up 76.4% of the student body, the largest percentage in Gloucester County schools, followed by Hispanic students with 8.3%, 6.1% Black or African American students and 0.7% Asian students.

Gloucester High School had the highest enrollment among Gloucester County's eight schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 1,549 students.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
