There were 312 white students enrolled in Essex County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 8.5% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Essex County Public Schools District welcomed 1,163 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, white students comprised 26.8% of the student body to be the second most represented ethnicity in the school.

Essex County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Essex County and has a main office in Tappahannock.

Among the three schools in Essex County Public Schools District, Essex High School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
