Alexandria Recurring Income for Success and Equity (ARISE) is the City of Alexandria’s guaranteed income pilot study. ARISE will provide a $500.00 monthly payment to 170 randomly selected participants for 24 months. This will allow the City to test a bold new way to learn how a regular cash disbursement can impact the economic stability and wellbeing of low-income residents, when they are able to make their own decisions about how to spend the money.
The ARISE application will go live online at alexandriava.gov/ARISE on October 31 at 9 a.m. EST and will close November 9 at 11:59 p.m., 2022. City representatives and community partners will gather for the kickoff, including Kate Garvey, Director, DCHS; Dr. Khan, Executive Director, Neighborhood Health; Courtney Riggle-van Schlagen, Director of Behavioral Health and Family Services, Neighborhood Health; and members of Alexandria City Council.
