The City of Charlottesville has teamed up with the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) to make going solar easier and more affordable than ever with our annual Solarize Charlottesville campaign. Going solar has the potential to greatly reduce your electric bill and your greenhouse gas emissions, and help the City meet its climate goals. Sign up by June 30th at SolarizeCville.org!
Solarize Charlottesville - a grassroots, community-based outreach initiative - reduces the cost and complexity of going solar by providing a one-stop shop for education and installation. Through a competitive bidding process, LEAP has secured discounted solar pricing and has named Virtue Solar as their selected campaign installer for 2022.
In addition, the Federal Solar Income Tax Credit is dropping from 26% to 22% at the end of 2022. We want to help as many folks as possible to take advantage of this higher credit rate, which is applied on top of Solarize Charlottesville’s already discounted pricing. We recommend that those interested in going solar sign up early to get their system installed by the end of the year.
Since 2014, 714 solar system contracts have been signed through LEAP’s Solarize programs across the state, generating more than 6.3 MW of solar capacity and over $17 million in value.
Through June 30, Charlottesville homeowners and businesses can sign up to receive a free solar satellite assessment, and gain access to discounted prices and vetted installers. LEAP will provide ongoing customer support and education throughout the process to make the experience as streamlined as possible.
More information is available to all community members at SolarizeCville.org.
Interested participants can also sign up to join an upcoming virtual information session – Next Info Session (virtual) is June 7th! Registration is free and requires no commitment until you sign a contract with an installer.
