City of Buena Vista issued the following announcement on Nov.23
The City of Buena Vista, Virginia will host Virginia Tourism’s life-sized
LOVE artwork from 11/23/21 to 12/3/2021 at Buena Vista’s newly-acquired downtown square (located
at 2117 Magnolia Avenue) as part of a state and local partnership to promote tourism in the
Commonwealth.
The artwork, which is 16 feet long and more than six feet high, is an extension of the 50-year-old
“Virginia is for Lovers” brand, one of the most beloved and iconic slogans in the world.
“Virginia is for Lovers is about doing the things you love to do on a vacation with the people you love
most,” said Rita McClenny, president and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation. “We are excited to
share the LOVE in Buena Vista where so many people can enjoy being a part of it, helping them to
discover for themselves why Virginia is for Lovers.”
Nearly 300 permanent LOVE letters, called LOVEworks, exist in towns, cities and at Welcome Centers
across the Commonwealth – each reflecting the uniqueness of the community in which it stands.
“The City of Buena Vista is excited to have the LOVE letters be on display in the downtown square. As
families, friends, and loved ones come home to the place and people they LOVE, we invite everyone to
take photos with the installation, creating happy memories. The December 2nd tree lighting and annual
Christmas parade will make for a magical time to visit the LOVE letters.”
Visitors to the LOVEwork are encouraged to take photos for posting on social media using #LOVEVA and #LoveBuenaVistaVA.

Tourism is an instant revenue generator for Virginia. In 2019, tourism generated $27 billion in revenue,
supported 237,000 jobs, and provided $1.8 billion in state and local revenue for the Commonwealth.
