City of Virginia Beach issued the following announcement on Nov. 12
A bank robbery suspect was taken into custody, without incident, within 30 minutes of the crime.
On November 12,2021 at 9:25 a.m., Virginia Beach Emergency Communications (VBECCS) received a report that the Navy Federal Credit Union, located at 1952 Laskin Road had just been robbed.
The preliminary investigation determined that the suspect entered the bank and demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, the suspect fled. No injuries were reported during this incident.
Within 30 minutes of the crime, officers located the suspect, 59-year-old Robert John Lun, of Lithonia, Georgia, and were able to take him in custody without further incident. He is being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail without bond.
This case remains under active investigation by members of the VBPD Detective Bureau, robbery squad.
