Virginia Beach Public Utilities to Resume Delinquency Turn-Offs

City of Virginia Beach issued the following announcement on Aug. 4

Water service turn-offs for non-payment of delinquent bills have been suspended since March 2020 due to COVID-19; however, delinquent turn-offs are scheduled to resume on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021.

During the suspension of delinquent turn-offs, customers have been encouraged to continue making regular payments on their City Services Bill and have received information on various payment assistance resources. Delinquent notices have continued to be sent for overdue balances and residential customers have continued to receive automated delinquent bill reminder courtesy calls.

Customers are provided 90 days from the original bill date to pay their bill in full before the account is considered delinquent and eligible for service termination.

Customers in need of bill payment assistance can find resources at www.vbgov.com/pu-paymentassistance. Payment assistance through the CARES Act expires on Nov. 1, 2021.
