County of King William issued the following announcement on Nov. 12
The King William County Board of Supervisors is committed to open and transparent government, specifically as it relates to the holding of public meetings of the Board of Supervisors and other County Boards, Commissions, and Committees and strongly encourages all citizens to be engaged in County government. This new page on the County website offers guidelines and more information about the Public Comment and Public Hearing process and contains an area to submit written comments for those unable to attend in person or via electronic means.
King William County strives to offer citizens every opportunity to witness and experience public meetings both in person and virtually via electronic broadcast (live-stream) through a medium such as Zoom. When accessing public meetings through Zoom, the County requires electronic participants to authenticate themselves by having a valid, free Zoom account and to provide their true name and email address using a Zoom meeting registration link. These measures are intended to reduce the risk of offensive and disruptive behavior by participants but are not guaranteed to do so.
Those attending virtually via Zoom must preregister using the form on the County website or by contacting the Deputy Clerk by noon on the day of the meeting at which they’d like to speak (deputyclerk@kingwilliamcounty.us or 804-769-4927). This process was instituted at the Board of Supervisors November 8, 2021 Work Session in response to the repeated offensive and disruptive behavior by some online participants. NOTE: If you do not register in advance with the name and email address under which you will appear online, you will not be allowed to unmute and offer comment.
