NOTICE OF FINDING OF NO SIGNFICANT IMPACT AND NOTICE OF INTENT TO REQUEST RELEASE OF FUNDS

REQUEST FOR RELEASE OF FUNDS

On or about January 10, 2023 the City of Radford will submit a request to Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the release of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds under Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended to undertake a project known as East Main Street River and Rail Downtown Connector for the purpose of connecting the downtown area with the river and spur economic growth in the area via parking, pedestrian safety, lighting, and wayfinding improvements.  Total estimated CDBG funds associated with this project is $150,000 and estimated total project funding is $2,400,000.

FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT 

The City of Radford has determined that the project will have no significant impact on the human environment. Therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) is not required. Additional project information is contained in the Environmental Review Record (ERR) on file at New River Valley Regional Commission at 6580 Valley Center Dr. Radford, VA 24141, the City of Radford at 10 Robertson Street, Radford VA 24141, where the ERR can be examined or copied weekdays 9 AM to 4 PM.   The Environmental Review Record can also be viewed on the City of Radford’s website at https://www.radfordva.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?CID=1.
